The WeWalk Smart Cane is a smart cane for persons with visual disabilities whose functions include detecting obstacles near certain parts of the body through an ultrasonic sensor and producing vibrations. This technological invention was created by Kürşat Ceylan.

Kürşat Ceylan, born in 1986, is a blind person from Turkey. He studied psychology at Boğaziçi University and was among the 50,000 students at Young Guru Academy (YGA) who participated in a social innovation course. From then on, the foundations for the WeWalk idea began to take shape. This invention was selected by Time magazine as one of the 100 best inventions of 2019.
This smart cane not only detects obstacles, but can also help identify what is around the user. The device consists of a cane and a handle; the handle contains a speaker, microphone, touchpad and haptic or ultrasonic sensor. The device has Bluetooth and connects to iOS or Android. This is because the gadget uses the WeWalk app with Google Maps and personal assistants such as Siri or Google Assistant.
